1. What was your first thought on looking at this image?
My first thought was wow. This image really says something, even though equality and justice are what the world needs and are good things, we see from this picture that they are not the same. 2. How does the creator of the image represent equality? How does she/he see if as different from justice? The author represents equality by giving each child one box each to stand on. Whereas the justice side they are given what the need. The author shows us that in the first box, the children are given the same, where as in the second they are given what they need. 3. Do you agree with the tagline 'equality doesn't mean justice'? Why/Why not? Yes I do. Just because someone is treated equally doesn't mean its just. For example, people with a disability may be treated the same as everyone else without a disability, but it doesn't mean that they are treated with justice. 4. Would you describe the figure on the right of the two panels as disadvantaged or disabled? Why/why not? No, the boy isn't disabled just because he's short, he may be at a disadvantage with his height but it depends what he's doing. 5. What kind of political or social change might this poster be advocating? Do you find it effective? Although they may be treated equally, they're not being treated fairly. For example, the difference between rich people and poor people. They may be treated equally, but at the end of the day, their social class and wealth isn't the same. The poster itself is a really effective one and it really made me think about justice and what it really means. 6. When you close your eyes and think of the word 'justice', what image comes into your mind? How would you define what justice means to you personally? The word justice brings fairness to my mind. I see everyone being treated with legal and moral rights. Where the punishment fits the crime, and the justice fits the person's needs. 7. Does our school work for justice? If so, what kind of justice and for whom?. I believe it does so in a way. Our school tries to bring justice to the pupils who are in need. Educational rights and justice is brought into the college's system which is a success through my eyes. |
